GPSFlow — analog speedometer

Everything a driver wants, none of the drawbacks

Speedometer, alerts, prices, tolls, weather, EV charging — all in one app, no subscription, no ads.

Accurate GPS speedometer

Live speed shown big and readable, current road speed limit via OpenStreetMap, portrait or landscape. Optional floating HUD over other apps.

Smart alerts

Cameras, school zones, speed bumps, slow zones, dangerous curves, traffic lights and stops. The alert only fires if you're actually approaching (±60° directional filter, road-type compatibility).

Real-time fuel prices

Official sources only: data.gouv.fr (FR), Tankerkönig (DE), E-Control (AT), Minetur (ES), MIMIT (IT). Shows the average price and the cheapest station on your route.

EV charging stations

European coverage via OpenChargeMap + the consolidated IRVE database for France (62,000 stations). Network, kW power, plug type, pay-as-you-go pricing for major operators (Ionity, Tesla, TotalEnergies…).

Toll calculation

Official rates per operator (APRR, Vinci, ASF, Atlantia…) and automatic in-trip calculation. Vignettes for AT / CH / SI / HU / SK / CZ / RO / BG. Vehicle-class aware (1 to 5).

Built-in weather

Live temperature and conditions via Open-Meteo, with automatic rain detection to adjust alerts (slow down in the rain). Refreshes every 30 min, or every 30 km.

Community reports

34 report types: traffic jams, accidents, road closed, wrong way, emergency vehicle, potholes, oil slicks, animals, strong wind, snow, fuel prices, charging tariffs… New in v2.4.41: 5 direct OSM map corrections (wrong speed limit, wrong road name, wrong oneway, missing road, wrong turn restriction). Shared in real time, anonymous, opt-in.

28 trophies to unlock

5 tiers (Bronze → Diamond) across 23 driving trophies (mileage, weather, countries, time-of-day…) + 5 community trophies tied to your reports. Confetti and progress ring built in.

Business mode

Tag personal vs business trips with one button. Timestamped history, per-client mileage, CSV export for accounting (mileage allowances 2026).

Android Auto

Core features projected onto your car's screen: speed, alerts, nearby stations. Works with most recent vehicles that have Android Auto.

30 languages, 13 themes

Interface translated into 30 European languages — every EU official language + Breton, Basque, Corsican, Occitan, Catalan, Ukrainian. 13 speedometer themes — from classic to airliner cockpit.

GDPR-by-design

No account, no email, no ads. Community and usage stats off by default. Anonymous local UUID, never your IP. Server-side wipe in one tap.

In-app updates

No Play Store? No problem: the app checks our server daily, downloads the signed APK in the background and prompts you to install in one tap. No data sent — just an anonymous GET.

Wear OS companion

Live speed, pace, distance and elevation gain on the wrist (cycling / running / hiking). Works with Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch 4+, OnePlus Watch 2, TicWatch Pro 5, Xiaomi Watch 2. First install via a step-by-step wizard, automatic updates after that.

Google Fit / Strava / Samsung Health sync

Your bike and walk trips ship to Health Connect in one tap — the official Android fitness datastore that Google Fit, Strava, Samsung Health, Fitbit and Komoot all read from. The full GPS polyline goes with it, and each app computes calories its own way. The legacy Google Fit Android API was shut down by Google in 2025 ; Health Connect is the successor.

Motorway SOS

If you stay still on a motorway for more than 2 min, a big red button appears at the bottom of the screen. One tap : your exact GPS position, road name, direction, and a one-touch emergency call to the motorway operator (Vinci, APRR, Sanef, Brisa, Abertis…) or the universal European 112. 30-country coverage (Scandinavia, Central Europe and Baltics included).

OpenStreetMap contributions

Spot a wrong speed limit on the map? Tap the megaphone, tap the correct sign — it's queued for OSM. No typing while driving. Review and send later from Settings → OSM Reports. Also covers : wrong road name, wrong oneway, missing road, wrong turn restriction.

Community OSM cache

Every driver shares their OpenStreetMap tiles downloaded while driving back to our server. Result : a route already covered by another GPSFlow user loads instantly, without hitting Overpass. No personal data in the share — only roads, speed limits, schools, POIs already public on OSM. Opt-in, disablable.

Voice search

Dictate the destination address right from the « Navigate to… » dialog — Android's STT engine recognises your voice, GPSFlow geocodes via OpenStreetMap. When Nominatim finds nothing, the AI takes over and answers back by voice (« the nearest IKEA is 12 km away in Brest »). No typing while driving.

Conversational AI assistant

10 specialised AI modes: drive brief, sport coach (cycling / running), route prediction, automatic weather brief (voice alert when rain / snow / thunderstorm hits), toll advice, fuel advice, pause suggestion, OSM note polishing, free search. BYOK (Mistral or Gemini keys, AES-256-encrypted on-device, never uploaded). Every feature toggles individually. Off by default.

24 gauge themes, including K.I.T.T. and DeLorean

Pick the look you love: Classic, Retro, Supercar, Neon, Aviation Cockpit, HUD, Tactical, Synthwave, Aqua, Graph, 7-Segment, Citroën DS / CX, Peugeot 304, Porsche 911 GT3, BMW M3 E30, Le Mans Chronograph, F1 LED Thrustmaster, Map BMW iDrive, Expert Mode 3D, Circuit, plus 4 May-2026 newcomers: K.I.T.T. (Knight Rider) with red Larson scanner and a 3-bar voice modulator that animates when the app speaks, DeLorean 88 MPH that flashes red past 88 km/h, Camaro IROC-Z 1986 with authentic 80s LCD, and Sci-Fi HUD in Mass-Effect cyan. Pick yours in Settings → Display.

AI fuel deal hunt (✨)

When your range gets low, GPSFlow scans fuel stations within 5 km, compares open-data prices (data.gouv.fr / Tankerkönig / DGEG / MIMIT / E-Control) and suggests the best deal with net detour math: « Save €3 in 5 min: Diesel at €1.52 3 km to the right ». Toggles individually. BYOK Mistral/Gemini. Off by default.

AI border-crossing legal brief (✨)

Each time you cross a border, the AI briefs you on country-specific rules (motorway vignette, alcohol limit, mandatory kit, radar-warning legality, low-emission zones) in two short sentences. Covers 33 European countries. « You're entering Switzerland: 40 CHF motorway vignette required, smartphones with radar warning forbidden ». Toggles individually. Off by default.

AI parking advisor + hazard predictor (✨)

Two proactive AI features. Parking advisor: 500 m before destination, the AI scans community-reported parking spots around your arrival point and recommends the best option (free vs paid, walking distance, height limit, EV charging). Hazard predictor: once per turn-by-turn segment, the AI projects the next 5-10 km against weather, time-of-day and community report density: « slippery stretch ahead, heavy fog reported 3 km on ». Toggles individually. Off by default.

AI free chat + photo analysis (✨)

Two interactive AI features. Free conversation: say « start a conversation » and ask anything (« pharmacy open Sunday », « speed limit in Croatia », « toll system in Italy ») — multi-turn, hands-free, voice TTS replies. Photo analysis: pick a photo from your gallery (never the camera, never while driving), the AI describes the scene, transcribes signage, identifies obstacles. Useful pre-trip for unfamiliar parking lots or foreign road signs. Off by default.

AI trip review + vehicle health + multi-stop (✨)

Three AI review-and-optimise features. Auto trip-tag: at trip end the AI generates a short title and 3 tags (« morning commute, M40 jam, 12 km ») for your history. Vehicle health: once a week, the AI reviews your last 7 days of fuel/range data and flags ≥ 15 % drift. Multi-stop planner: voice « plan my errands », up to 8 stops, the AI runs a TSP heuristic and returns the optimal sequence with per-stop ETA. Off by default.

When GPSFlow is NOT the best choice
  • Pure turn-by-turn navigation (GPS speaking every exit) → use Google Maps or Waze. GPSFlow plots the route and the prediction bar, but doesn't do full turn-by-turn voice.
  • Ultra-reliable real-time traffic everywhere → Waze is still the gold standard (huge community). GPSFlow uses OSM and opt-in community reports, so less dense.
  • Worldwide coverage outside Europe (Asia, Americas) → Google Maps wins. GPSFlow is tuned for Europe (mainly FR, DE, AT, ES, IT, PT).
When GPSFlow is unbeatable
  • Daily driver who wants speedometer + alerts + fuel + EV charging + tolls in one single free, ad-free app.
  • Privacy-conscious user : no account, no ads, opt-in community off by default, GDPR-native.
  • EV or hybrid driver : 62,000 stations + pay-as-you-go pricing + on-route charging guidance = unique ecosystem.
  • Pro / motorhome / truck : low-emission zones, vehicle classes (1 to 5), business mode with CSV mileage export.
  • Cyclist, runner or hiker : Wear OS companion on 5 watch brands + Health Connect sync → Strava, Fit, Samsung, Komoot.

Precision and official data

GPSFlow doesn't do magic — it plugs into the right sources and makes them talk to each other.

Adaptive speed

Native Android read (FusedLocationProvider) + adaptive EMA (filters noise ≤ 2 km/h, passes real changes ≥ 6 km/h) + asymmetric slew-rate (max accel 14 km/h/s, decel 25 km/h/s). No oscillation at steady speed.

Multi-source speed limit

Priority: explicit OSM maxspeed tag → country profile per road type → European default. Automatic reduction in the rain (FR: 130→110, 110→100, 90→80) if Open-Meteo detects precipitation.

Filtered alerts

Mandatory snap to road (≤ 30 m), ±60° directional filter, compatibility matrix per OSM class (school never on motorway, stop/light never on expressway, camera/curve never on parking or farm track). No false alerts from the opposite carriageway.

French law compliance

Compliant with the 2012 French decree: control zone (4 km radius motorway / 2 km secondary / 300 m urban) instead of the exact camera position. Position never sent to the UI. 9 countries auto-banned (CH, DE, AT, LU, IT, ES, TR, IE, SK, CY).

Data sources

Fuel: data.gouv.fr (FR), Tankerkönig (DE), E-Control (AT), Minetur (ES), MIMIT (IT). EV charging: OpenChargeMap (Europe) + consolidated IRVE (FR, 62,000 stations). Weather: Open-Meteo. Maps: OpenStreetMap.

Offline mode

OSM tile cache (10–500 MB configurable, LRU). Weather, fuel, charging stations: opportunistic prefetch, TTL 6 h to 8 d depending on the source. Toggle “Offline” for zero network requests during a trip.

📱 → 📱📱 Tablet & unfolded foldable

From 600 dp width (tablet or unfolded foldable), GPSFlow automatically switches to a 50/50 split: gauges + alerts on the left, bird's-eye view + zoom on the right. Adaptive layout compliant with the Android 17 (API 37) rule.

Your location belongs to you

GPSFlow is built on a simple principle: no personal data leaves your phone unless you explicitly opt in.

  • No ad tracking, no third-party ad SDK.
  • GPS location stays local — used only for the speedometer, alerts and weather.
  • Community and usage statistics off by default (Planet49, GDPR).
  • The community feature (shared reports) is anonymous: only a local UUID generated on your device is attached to the points you report. No IP, no account.
  • “Delete my server data” button — instantly removes your row from the database and clears the local cache.
  • No account, no signup, no email required.
  • Full offline mode for the core features (speedometer, alerts, tolls).

Frequently asked questions

The app is in public beta. The APK is distributed directly from this site so we can ship faster and listen to feedback before the Play Store release. The APK is signed and installation only takes a few seconds via unknown sources.

No. No ad tracking. The GPS location stays on your phone unless you enable the community feature (shared incidents) — in which case only the points you explicitly report are sent, anonymously (local UUID).

GPSFlow announces regulatory control zones (warning sign) instead of the exact position of individual cameras. This complies with the French 2012 law on warning systems.

Yes. Most features (GPS speedometer, road alerts, tolls, audio) work without a connection. Weather, fuel prices and charging stations need an occasional connection to refresh (~once a day).

Download the .apk file, open it from your phone, allow unknown sources if Android asks, then tap Install. The GPSFlow icon then appears on your home screen like any other app.

Yes — GPSFlow ships a streamlined Android Auto UI (official templates) compatible with virtually every Android-Auto-enabled car since 2017. Projection happens automatically as soon as you plug in your phone.

Official sources only, refreshed roughly once a day: data.gouv.fr (France, ~11,000 stations), Tankerkönig (Germany), E-Control (Austria), Minetur (Spain) and MIMIT (Italy). The displayed price is the one the station officially reported — no community-sourced figures.

European coverage via OpenChargeMap (community-driven) plus the consolidated IRVE database for France (62,000 stations). Network, kW power, plug type are shown. Pay-as-you-go pricing for major operators (Ionity, Tesla, TotalEnergies, Allego…) in an internal table, complemented by community-driven reports from drivers.

Locally: your trips (km, duration, average speed, toll), your preferences, the OSM map cache (configurable 10–500 MB). Server-side: only the community reports you explicitly publish, attached to a local anonymous UUID. No continuous position, no IP address, no account.

Over 35 settings in preferences (alerts, audio, display, privacy, business mode, cache, vehicle…), 12 interface languages (FR, EN, DE, ES, IT, PT, NL, PL, NO, RO, SV, FI, BR, EU, CO, OC, CA, BG, CS, DA, EL, ET, GA, HR, HU, LT, LV, MT, SK, SL, UK, AR, HE), 13 speedometer themes (classic, retro, supercar, neon, cockpit, HUD, tactical, violet, aqua, graph, seven, Citroën CX, Peugeot).
